A Few Ideas (though there are many more)
The Victorian Market is a lovely shopping district in the heart of Inverness if you need to pick up gifts to take home. There is also a food hall with casual dining options.
Botanic Gardens Amidst beautiful formal gardens, ponds, tropical house, cactus house, wild flower meadow and much more the Botanical Gardens is like an green emerald in the heart of the city. No entry fee but you can make a donation.
Cool Bookshop You might want to pop in to Leakey’s if you love old book shops and collecting.
Inverness Castle This attraction has been under renovation and is due to reopen in 2025 — open date not yet confirmed. It looks like an amazing experience. I am monitoring progress. If an opening date is published for the venue and tickets become available I will let you know.
Clava Cairns one of Scotland’s most evocative prehistoric sites – the exceptional remains of an ancient cemetery, set on a terrace above the River Nairn. Approximately 16 mins by taxi from KingsMills Hotel
If you get hungry (just sayin’) McLeod’s Fish and Chips
Explore Inverness on a City Sightseeing bus. It’s Hop-on, Hop-off, on a single route with 7 stops and a 24-hour pass. Only 6 bucks and that’s not even the senior discount!
Scenic Walk Muirtown basin (handout quide and explanation below provided by EW) walk begins from where the Spirit of Scotland is moored while in Inverness. Offers views of the Carnac Point Lighthouse, Beauly Firth, Merkinch Local Nature reserve and Kessock Bridge. (the trek is 4 miles and takes approximately 2 hours to walk with multiple photo ops along the way)
